PTI Senator Mashal Yousafzai Allegedly Threatens PML-N Senator During Senate Session

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Mashal Yousafzai allegedly threatened Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Anoushay Rahman during a Senate session while discussing a report concerning the health of PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to a post by journalist Gharidah Farooqi on X, Yousafzai told Rahman to remain silent during the session, allegedly warning her that otherwise she would “be harmed by my hands.”

The incident reportedly occurred while Senator Yousafzai was speaking about Imran Khan’s health report. Senator Anoushay Rahman reportedly interrupted her remarks, prompting the exchange between the two lawmakers.

In another post, Farooqi commented on several recent political controversies, including proposed reforms to the 18th Amendment, the issue of canals and the debate over the creation of new provinces or administrative units.

She said sensitive issues concerning Pakistan’s constitutional structure and future should be discussed at the national level by appropriate and relevant people. However, she regretted that inappropriate statements and poor timing and choice of forum had turned serious debates into controversies, potentially delaying meaningful discussion and solutions.

Farooqi added that discussions on such important and sensitive matters should begin with suitable individuals, requiring both an understanding of people and awareness of the appropriate circumstances and forum.
