Government, Judiciary Responsible for Imran Khan’s Condition, Claims KP CM Sohail Afridi

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has blamed the government, judiciary and those he alleged were responsible for Imran Khan’s “abduction” for the former prime minister’s current condition, expressing serious concern over a medical report submitted in court.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Junaid Akbar and Asad Qaiser, Afridi said the government report had caused deep concern within the party and demanded that Imran Khan’s family be allowed to meet him immediately.

“We do not know in what condition our leader is being kept,” Afridi said, calling for an immediate meeting between Khan and his family.

He said PTI leadership would consult Imran Khan’s family and lawyers regarding the medical report and subsequently announce its future course of action.

Afridi said the report was particularly concerning because Khan’s personal physicians, Dr Asim and Dr Faisal, had previously examined him and found his blood pressure to be within the range of 110 to 120. He said the latest report showed a blood pressure reading of 140/100 and questioned what Khan’s actual condition might be if the report reflected such a reading.

The KP chief minister said the report had caused concern across the country. He claimed that Imran Khan had been “super fit” before what he described as his abduction.

Criticizing the judiciary, Afridi alleged that courts had remained silent whenever problems arose concerning Imran Khan. He questioned what justice ordinary citizens could expect if the judiciary treated a former prime minister and, according to him, the country’s most popular leader in such a manner.

He said PTI had consistently demanded that Imran Khan receive treatment under the supervision of his family and personal doctors, particularly since concerns emerged regarding his eye, and questioned why such a demand should be considered unlawful.

Afridi alleged that the current government, judiciary and those responsible for Imran Khan’s alleged abduction were responsible for his condition.

PTI leader Junaid Akbar also expressed concern over the medical report submitted in court regarding Imran Khan’s health. He said the report had further increased public anxiety and that the party would present a detailed position after consulting Khan’s family.

Akbar alleged that despite the reported health concerns, Imran Khan was still not being given access to his personal doctors or family members.
