After Cleanliness Drive, Our Goal Is to Provide Safe Drinking Water Across Punjab: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that providing clean drinking water to all cities across the province after improving sanitation is now a key government priority.

She expressed these views during a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly from Attock district, where public needs, development projects and ongoing government programmes were discussed in detail.

The lawmakers congratulated Maryam Nawaz on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s success in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and appreciated the launch of the electric bus service in Attock.

They informed the chief minister that electric bus services were operating from POF Sanjwal to Hazro and from Government College of Technology Dhoke Fateh to Attock Khurd. They also briefed her on the positive public response to the service in Attock and surrounding areas.

The assembly members said free transport facilities for women, students and senior citizens were a welcome initiative. They also described the upgrading of villages under the Model Villages Project as a revolutionary step.

They said ongoing development projects and landmark initiatives in Punjab were setting an example for other provinces.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that, following the model of the Suthra Punjab Programme, the provision of clean drinking water was also among the government’s priorities. She said her goal was to provide safe drinking water to people in all cities of Punjab after improving cleanliness and sanitation.

The chief minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had played a key role in making Pakistan a nuclear power and developing a network of motorways.

She added that mega projects for drainage, sewerage systems and roads had been launched across the province under the Punjab Development Programme.
