There Are Many Forms of Slavery, But Only One Definition of Freedom: Fawad Chaudhry

LAHORE: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that while slavery can take many forms, freedom has only one definition: whether people have the right to choose their rulers and the power to replace them.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Fawad Chaudhry asked whether people were able to choose their rulers and whether the authority to change them rested with the people.

Commenting on Diljit Dosanjh’s film “Main Wapas Aaunga,” he said the movie tells the story of Punjabis who paid a heavy price for freedom.

He said the film portrayed the pain of Partition while also highlighting the immense hardships and sacrifices communities had to endure in their struggle for freedom.

Fawad Chaudhry prayed that God would protect people from suffering and tragedies and bring peace to areas affected by unrest, so that their residents could live easier and safer lives.
