Three Police Officers, Including Sub-Inspector, Martyred in Two Separate Firing Incidents in Lahore

LAHORE: Three police personnel were martyred and several others injured in two separate firing incidents targeting police in Lahore within a few hours, raising concerns over the security situation in the provincial capital.

According to police sources, two officers were martyred during an operation against proclaimed offenders in the Badami Bagh area, while another police officer was killed and three others along with a passerby were injured in a separate firing incident in Nawan Kot.

Two Officers Martyred in Badami Bagh

A team of Larri Adda Police conducted a raid against proclaimed offenders in Badami Bagh when a suspect identified as Rehan allegedly opened fire on the police personnel.

As a result, Sub-Inspector Adeel and Head Constable Asad were martyred at the scene.

Police said the suspect fled the area following the shooting. A cordon was subsequently established and a search operation launched to arrest him.

According to police sources, Rehan’s brother Faizan had previously been killed in an alleged police encounter and had been accused of shooting and killing more than one police officer.

Police have launched a further investigation into the Badami Bagh incident and are conducting raids at different locations to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Police Targeted in Nawan Kot

In another incident in Nawan Kot, police personnel were also targeted in a firing attack following the Badami Bagh incident.

Police officer Haris Saleem was martyred, while personnel identified as Owais, Shafiq and Azam were injured. A passerby was also wounded in the firing.

The injured police officers and civilian were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

CCTV footage obtained by Aaj News reportedly shows the attackers firing at police personnel in the Nawan Kot area.

Police teams are continuing operations to arrest those involved in both incidents and determine the circumstances surrounding the attacks.

DIG Operations Expresses Grief

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran expressed deep sorrow and grief over the deaths of the police personnel.

He said the martyred officers had sacrificed their lives while performing their duties and vowed that their sacrifices would not go in vain.

The DIG said all those involved in the attacks would be arrested at all costs.
