New Spell of Rain: Meteorological Department Issues Important Forecast

ISLAMABAD: A new spell of rain is expected to affect upper and central parts of Pakistan, with the Meteorological Department forecasting heavy showers, thunderstorms and intense rainfall in several areas from August 13 to 15.

According to the weather department, monsoon currents and a westerly wave are currently influencing the upper parts of the country. Under the prevailing weather system, intermittent rain is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northeastern Punjab from the night of August 12 through August 15.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in several areas of northeastern Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot. Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the Potohar region are likely to receive heavy rain from the evening or night of August 13.

The Meteorological Department said thunderstorms and rainfall were also possible in Zhob, Barkhan and Musa Khel districts of Balochistan.

Rain is also expected in Sargodha, Faisalabad and other districts of Punjab, while weather conditions are likely to remain unsettled in several parts of the province.

Meanwhile, rain is forecast for southeastern districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umerkot and Sanghar, as well as coastal areas on August 12 and 13. Other parts of Sindh are expected to remain extremely hot and humid.

Weather Advisory for Citizens

The Meteorological Department has warned of a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous regions due to the expected rainfall.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and remain updated on the latest weather advisories and instructions issued by the authorities.

Relevant departments have also been directed to complete necessary preparations to deal with any emergency situation arising from the expected spell of rain.
