Peoples Train Inauguration in Quetta Postponed Due to Delay in Arrival of Coaches
QUETTA: The inauguration of the Peoples Train, planned to operate between Sariab and Kuchlak areas of Quetta, has been postponed due to a delay in the arrival of its coaches.
Balochistan Transport Secretary Hayat Kakar said that seven railway stations had been established along the 32-kilometre route between Sariab and Kuchlak for the operation of the Peoples Train.
He said special coaches for the Peoples Train had been prepared at the Carriage Factory in Islamabad. However, the coaches had not yet arrived in Quetta, making it impossible to hold the scheduled inauguration on August 14.
Hayat Kakar said the Balochistan government, federal government and Pakistan Railways would hold consultations to determine a new date for the inauguration.
He added that the revised inauguration date would be announced after mutual consultation among the relevant authorities.
The Peoples Train is intended to provide an additional public transport facility for residents travelling between Sariab and Kuchlak, with the newly established railway stations expected to facilitate commuters along the route.
