Over 200 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Islamabad, NCCIA Faces Space and Staff Shortage

ISLAMABAD: The arrest of more than 200 foreign nationals has become a major challenge for the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), as the agency reportedly lacks adequate space and staff to accommodate such a large number of detainees.

According to sources cited by Express News, more than 200 foreign nationals were arrested from a building located in a private housing society in Islamabad.

Officials reportedly approached the district administration after facing difficulties in accommodating the large number of suspects. The building has subsequently been temporarily declared a sub-jail, where the arrested individuals are currently being held.

Initial investigations suggest that the foreign nationals were allegedly operating illegal call centres from the building.

Those arrested reportedly include citizens of China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia, who had entered Pakistan on visit visas and were allegedly involved in illegal business activities.

According to sources, the illegal call centres were discovered during an investigation into a separate liquor recovery case. The investigation subsequently led authorities to the premises, where the alleged illegal operations were uncovered.

The NCCIA has launched further investigations to determine the nature and scale of the alleged activities and to establish the individual roles of those arrested.
