Pakistan, Iran Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Stability in Tehran

TEHRAN:Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, the evolving regional situation, and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

According to Iranian media, Naqvi conveyed a special message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to President Pezeshkian regarding the current regional situation.

The meeting also covered ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.

Iranian media reported that Naqvi briefed President Pezeshkian on the recently concluded Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, bringing the Iranian leadership up to date on the development.

Following the meeting, President Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to pave the way for greater cooperation with Pakistan. He said expanding bilateral relations could serve mutual interests while also contributing to regional security and stability.

Pezeshkian said stronger relations with Pakistan could help enhance regional security and emphasized Iran’s interest in developing ties with Pakistan across all fields.

He said the interest and goodwill expressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other Pakistani officials in strengthening relations with Iran were highly valued by Tehran.

The Iranian president reiterated that deeper bilateral ties would strengthen the mutual interests of both countries and contribute to improved security and stability in the region.

Naqvi said Pakistan-Iran relations were strong and irreversible. He added that Pakistan was firmly committed to taking steps to comprehensively expand and strengthen its relations with Tehran.

Before meeting President Pezeshkian, Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Their discussions covered the overall regional situation, bilateral relations, and issues related to peace and stability.:::
