Heavy Rain Raises Flood Threat in Rawalpindi-Islamabad as Nullah Lai Level Surges

RAWALPINDI:Heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has caused the water level in Nullah Lai to rise sharply, triggering flood warnings and placing rescue services on high alert.

At Kattarian, the water level in Nullah Lai has crossed 22 feet, prompting authorities to sound danger sirens in areas surrounding the waterway. Residents living near Nullah Lai have been advised to evacuate as a precautionary measure.

Water has entered homes in Sadiqabad and Dhoke Elahi Bakhsh, while significant water accumulation has also been reported on Murree Road and Rawal Road.

Golra recorded the highest rainfall in the twin cities, with 113 millimeters recorded during the spell.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in occupied Jammu and upper areas has created a flood situation in Nullah Bein in Shakargarh. Crops across more than a dozen villages have reportedly been submerged by floodwater.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, low-level flooding has been reported in the Indus River at Kalabagh and Guddu Barrages. The situation in other rivers remains normal.:::
