Mobile Internet Shutdown Across Balochistan Disrupts Lives of Citizens, Students and Traders
QUETTA: Citizens, students, traders and business communities across Quetta and several other districts of Balochistan are facing severe difficulties as mobile internet services remain suspended for a second consecutive day.
The disruption has affected communication and caused problems for students, traders, businesspeople, employees of public and private institutions and ordinary citizens.
With mobile internet services unavailable, residents are facing difficulties communicating with one another, while online businesses, digital payments, online classes, educational activities and other essential services have also been badly affected.
Students in different parts of the province are reportedly struggling to access online educational material due to the lack of internet connectivity. Young people working in freelancing and other online professions are also facing difficulties and potential financial losses.
Traders and business owners said internet connectivity had become an essential part of commercial activities in the modern era. They said the suspension of services was causing business disruptions and financial losses.
Citizens also complained that the uncertain internet situation was affecting essential communication, while contacting others during emergencies had become particularly difficult.
The public has called on the relevant authorities and the Balochistan government to explain the reasons behind the suspension and ensure the uninterrupted restoration of mobile internet services.
Citizens said Balochistan was already facing numerous challenges and that the internet shutdown had further increased difficulties for the public.
They urged the government and relevant institutions to take immediate notice of the situation and restore internet services completely.
The public further demanded that if the service had been suspended for security reasons, authorities should clearly inform citizens about the reasons and take effective measures to restore connectivity as soon as possible, enabling students, traders, businesspeople and ordinary citizens to resume their routine and essential activities.
