Foolproof Security in Quetta for Independence Day; Youth Urged to Abandon Fruitless War and Join Democratic Process: Mir Ziaullah Langau
QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau on Sunday visited various areas of Quetta to review security arrangements made for Independence Day celebrations and urged young people to abandon what he described as a fruitless armed struggle and participate in the democratic process.
The provincial home minister visited Airport Road, Kuchlak and Western Bypass, where he received briefings from relevant officials on the security situation and arrangements for August 14.
Speaking on the occasion, Langau said Independence Day was a special occasion for every nation and that living nations celebrated it with enthusiasm and national spirit. He said the people of Balochistan and Quetta were also preparing to celebrate August 14 with patriotic fervor.
He said protecting the lives and property of citizens was the government’s responsibility and that foolproof security arrangements had been made for Independence Day. Security agencies were monitoring major roads, sensitive locations and public gatherings, he added.
Addressing the youth, Langau said freedom was a great blessing from Allah and urged young people to use their abilities in education, science and technology to serve the country and contribute to its development.
He said young people who were heading to the mountains after being influenced or allegedly encouraged by hostile elements should abandon that path. “Pakistan is our country and Balochistan is our province,” he said, urging young people to serve the province and country through education, technology and politics instead of what he termed a fruitless war.
The minister said the best way to secure rights anywhere in the world was through democratic means. He encouraged young people to enter Parliament, use their abilities and contribute to making Balochistan prosperous through the democratic process.
Pakistan-Turkey-Saudi Defence Cooperation
Langau also welcomed defence cooperation and the alliance between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, saying stronger defence capabilities among friendly countries would discourage any country from viewing them as an easy target.
He described the cooperation among the three countries as a message of peace for the region and the wider world.
The provincial home minister accused India of involvement in terrorism in various countries and alleged that Afghanistan was also being used against Pakistan.
He said Afghanistan was Pakistan’s brotherly and neighboring country, but Pakistan had serious concerns regarding militant elements operating from its territory.
Langau said targeting innocent civilians and mosques could never be considered an act of humanity. He condemned the killing of innocent people and stressed that effective measures were necessary to eliminate terrorism and promote peace in the region.
He said the Balochistan government was using all available resources to protect citizens and maintain law and order across the province. Security arrangements had been further strengthened for Independence Day so that citizens could participate in national celebrations in a peaceful environment.
