KP CM Sohail Afridi Says PTI Long March Aims to Gain Access to Imran Khan

PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march planned for September 27 is not aimed at securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, but at gaining access to him.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Afridi said he would personally lead the long march and that it would not be a one-day event. He said the participants would not simply travel to Islamabad and return.

The KP chief minister said the date for the long march was announced after consultations with PTI leaders and representatives of the Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan. He added that Aleema Khan would also participate in the movement.

Clarifying the objective of the march, Afridi said the primary aim was to gain access to Imran Khan, while his release would be pursued in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

Asked why the date had been set around one and a half months later, Afridi said September 27 was chosen to allow sufficient time for preparations and because of the weather conditions.

He reiterated that the long march would continue beyond a single day and that participants would not return immediately after reaching Islamabad.
