Long March May Last Several Days, PTI Will Head to Islamabad Fully Prepared: Shafi Jan

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafi Jan has said that the decision to hold a long march towards Islamabad on September 27 was taken after consultation between the party and its allies.

Speaking in a statement, Shafi Jan said PTI wanted to move forward together with its allied parties and was also in contact with religious groups.

He said the Islamabad long march would not necessarily be limited to one day and could continue for several days.

“We will head towards Islamabad with complete preparations,” he said.

PTI Claims No Option Left But Long March

Shafi Jan said PTI had pursued every constitutional and legal avenue to secure the fundamental rights of party founder Imran Khan.

He alleged that Imran Khan’s constitutional and legal rights had been taken away, leaving the party with no option but to launch a long march.

He said PTI was also reaching out to Punjab and other provinces and would begin a series of seminars at various universities.

According to Shafi Jan, young people inspired by Allama Iqbal’s vision would lead the movement and their numbers would reach into the millions.

Doors Open for Opposition Parties

The PTI leader said the party’s doors were open to political parties that wanted to oppose the current federal government.

He called on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to leave its constitutional positions and sit on the opposition benches if it wanted to get rid of the government.

Shafi Jan further said the “mandate-stealing rulers” would now have to answer before the court of the people.
