Balochistan Women Parliamentarians Pledge Support to Asma Jatak Until Justice Is Served

Quetta: The Women Parliamentary Caucus of the Balochistan Assembly has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the alleged threats, attempted forced marriage, abduction, violence, and repeated attacks that Asma Jatak and her family have reportedly faced over the past several years.

In a statement, the caucus said the recent killing of Asma Jatak’s father, Master Inayatullah Jatak, was not only an irreparable tragedy for the family but also a matter of serious concern for society and a challenge to the rule of law.

The caucus reiterated that violence against women, forced marriages, abductions, intimidation, and attempts to impose decisions through fear are unacceptable in any civilized society.

It called for the immediate arrest of all those allegedly involved in the case, demanding a transparent investigation and that those responsible be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The Women Parliamentary Caucus said it has remained in continuous contact with the relevant authorities and has conveyed its concerns over the matter. It also noted that the issue was raised during a recent session of the Balochistan Assembly, where the Speaker directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan to ensure the swift arrest of all suspects, take effective legal action, and submit a progress report to the Assembly Secretariat by Monday.

The caucus welcomed the Balochistan government’s decision to take serious notice of the incident and said it would continue engaging with the authorities to ensure the investigation and legal proceedings move forward on a priority basis, while also ensuring protection and support for the affected family.

Reaffirming its solidarity with Asma Jatak and her family, the caucus pledged to stand by them until justice is delivered. It also reiterated its commitment to protecting women’s rights, strengthening the rule of law, and promoting a safe, just, and accountable Balochistan.
