Serious Flaws Found in Mir Raza’s Post-Mortem Report, Karachi Police Surgeon Says
Karachi:** Karachi Police Surgeon **Dr. Samia Syed** has identified serious shortcomings in the post-mortem examination of Mir Raza, raising concerns over the quality and completeness of the forensic investigation.
In a letter addressed to the **SP East**, Dr. Samia Syed highlighted multiple deficiencies in the post-mortem report prepared by **Dr. Osama Sheikh**.
According to the letter, no X-rays of the body were conducted, chemical analysis for gunpowder residue around the entry wound was not performed, and photographs were not taken in accordance with forensic standards.
Dr. Syed also noted that the report failed to adequately explain the bone markings associated with the entry and exit wounds. She pointed out that the documented size of the entry wound was significantly larger than the exit wound, indicating that the injuries required further examination and verification.
The letter further stated that no gunpowder residue samples were collected from the victim’s hands, the nature and extent of the body’s decomposition were not properly documented, and no DNA sample was obtained to confirm the victim’s identity despite the face being unrecognizable.
Dr. Syed also recommended that exhumation of the body be considered if further forensic examination becomes necessary.
Meanwhile, **Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan** said that police act on the basis of the medical-legal officer’s (MLO) report, adding that if there were shortcomings in the report, they should have been corrected immediately.
