PTI Chairman Gohar Demands Confidence Vote for PM Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly, claiming the government has lost political support.

Speaking to the media, Gohar said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a coalition partner in the federal government, had described the prime minister as the product of a rigged electoral process. He argued that the prime minister had lost the confidence necessary to continue in office and urged him to immediately convene a session of the National Assembly to obtain a vote of confidence.

Gohar also said that Pakistan’s political system should be “reset,” arguing that the country needs a fresh direction after decades of political challenges.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry defended the government’s position while addressing an election review meeting for Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch Division.

Referring to the local electoral process, Chaudhry said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had secured victories in the first two phases of the elections, which he described as a reflection of public confidence in the performance of the federal and Punjab governments.

He said voters had supported governance and performance, adding that people across Pakistan aspired to the level of development seen in Punjab.

The meeting was attended by district coordinators, constituency coordinators, and PML-N candidates from Poonch Division, where participants reviewed the party’s election campaign and polling-day strategy for the third phase of the elections.
