Balochistan Assembly Passes Resolution Condemning Revocation of Occupied Kashmir’s Special Constitutional Status

Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly has passed a joint resolution condemning the revocation of the special constitutional status of Indian-administered Kashmir. The resolution was presented by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on behalf of the provincial ministers and parliamentary secretaries.

According to the text of the resolution, Article 370 had granted the region its own constitution, flag, and internal autonomy, while Article 35A provided permanent residents with special rights related to government employment, property ownership, and residency. The resolution states that the removal of these constitutional provisions deprived the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir of their identity and fundamental rights.

The resolution also expressed concern over what it described as an increase in state repression, security crackdowns, arrests, and restrictions on the media in the region following the constitutional changes.

It reaffirmed Pakistan’s stated commitment to supporting the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and called on the federal government to formulate a comprehensive national strategy to provide legal and diplomatic support to the people of the region.
