Balochistan Notifies New Municipal Committees for Masy Zai, May Zai and Gulistan
QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has officially issued a notification granting Masy Zai, May Zai, and Gulistan the status of Municipal Committees, following the completion of all legal and administrative formalities.
The move implements an earlier announcement by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti aimed at strengthening local government institutions and improving municipal services in the region.
During a meeting with the Chief Minister on Tuesday, Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai thanked Mir Sarfraz Bugti for fulfilling his commitment to establish the new municipal committees.
Achakzai said the creation of the new municipal bodies would improve the delivery of local government and municipal services, while also contributing to regional development and the effective resolution of public issues.
He expressed hope that the provincial government would continue upgrading local government institutions in other areas where such measures are needed.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the government’s top priority is to provide essential public services and strengthen the local government system across the province.
He added that efforts to improve municipal services would continue and that local government institutions meeting the required legal and administrative criteria would be upgraded in phases.
The Chief Minister noted that Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai had been advocating for the establishment of municipal committees in Masy Zai, May Zai, and Gulistan for the past one and a half years, and that those efforts had now resulted in the official notification.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to establishing effective and efficient local government institutions in other eligible areas of Balochistan to ensure better public services and improved governance at the grassroots level.
