PML-N’s Sheikh Rohail Asghar Criticizes Mohsin Naqvi Over Remarks on Government Performance
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar has criticized Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi over his recent remarks, saying that such statements are inappropriate for a senior member of the government and create confusion about the administration’s performance.
Speaking on the issue, Sheikh Rohail Asghar said that criticism of the system is understandable when it comes from the opposition, but it sends the wrong message when voiced by a member of the government itself.
He questioned the intent behind Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks, asking whether they implied that the government had achieved nothing over the past two and a half years.
“Our political culture has become strange—people often fail to perform the duties assigned to them while focusing on matters outside their responsibilities,” he said, adding that although he personally knows Mohsin Naqvi and respects him, he believes such comments were not appropriate under the current circumstances.

Sheikh Rohail Asghar argued that if someone genuinely believes the existing system has completely failed, then they should, on moral grounds, step away from the system instead of remaining in office while publicly criticizing it.
He further said that such statements create the impression that the Prime Minister and his team are incapable of delivering on their responsibilities, raising questions about the government’s own confidence in its performance.
The PML-N leader stressed that government officials must choose their words carefully, as their public statements have far-reaching political consequences. He said that senior officeholders should avoid remarks that could create an impression of internal divisions or weaken public confidence in the government.
