Lahore Police Launch Major Crackdown on Loan Sharks, Offer Free Legal Aid to Victims

Lahore: Lahore Police has decided to launch a large-scale crackdown against loan sharks and their facilitators as part of efforts to protect citizens from financial exploitation.
Authorities have issued orders to register cases without discrimination against individuals involved in threats, blackmail, harassment, and other illegal activities linked to usury.
Lahore Police has also announced that free legal assistance will be provided to poor and underprivileged citizens affected by such practices.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said there would be no leniency for those who recover amounts many times greater than the original loan from borrowers.
He further stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Lahore Bar, under which deserving litigants, with their consent, will have their cases referred to a panel of lawyers who will provide free legal representation in civil cases.
Faisal Kamran added that lawyers have also been engaged to assist in cases involving inheritance disputes, dowry recovery, and financial transactions. He emphasized that the police will continue to monitor such cases until justice is served.
