No Signs of Major Change as Establishment’s Influence Remains Strong, Says Muneeb Farooq

ISLAMABAD: Analyst Muneeb Farooq has claimed that the influence and authority of the establishment in Pakistan remain firmly intact, with no indications of any major shift in its policies or role. Speaking on a private television programme, he said that the establishment continues to exercise the same level of influence and that affairs are moving forward without any significant change.

He remarked that the perception that an important figure is nearing the end of their political or professional career and is introducing a reform agenda before departure is inaccurate. According to him, those concerned remain confident, have sufficient time, and are pursuing a broad agenda that continues to move ahead.

Muneeb Farooq stated that there are currently no visible signs of any major change in the country’s power dynamics.

It is worth noting that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently stated that Pakistan’s existing administrative system has outlived its usefulness and that the creation of new provinces has become inevitable. He argued that new administrative units are essential for the country’s development and progress, as the current system is no longer capable of effectively addressing governance challenges.
