Karachi-Abu Dhabi Flight Narrowly Avoids Major Accident After Engine Malfunction

KARACHI: An Etihad Airways flight bound for Abu Dhabi narrowly avoided a major accident after developing a technical fault shortly after takeoff and safely returned to Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. All 128 passengers on board remained unharmed.

According to airport sources, Etihad Airways Flight EY299 had departed from Karachi for Abu Dhabi when one of the Airbus A320 aircraft’s engines developed an unexpected technical malfunction during the flight.

Upon detecting the fault, the captain immediately contacted Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC), informed authorities of the situation, and requested permission for an emergency return. After receiving clearance, the pilot skillfully turned the aircraft back toward Karachi and landed safely on the runway.

All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft and transferred to the airport lounge, where they are being provided with necessary facilities while arrangements are made for an alternative flight.

Meanwhile, a team of engineers has been called in to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the Airbus A320 to determine the exact cause of the malfunction and ensure the aircraft is fit for future operations.

Airport authorities said further details will be released following the technical assessment of the aircraft.
