Mir Ali Hassan Zehri Expresses Sorrow Over Tragic Coal Mine Accident in Sorange

QUETTA: Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Balochistan, spokesperson to President Asif Ali Zardari, and former Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives in the tragic coal mine accident in the Sorange area of Quetta.
In a condolence statement, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri said the heartbreaking incident has plunged the entire nation into mourning. He noted that coal miners work under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions to earn a livelihood for their families, and even minor negligence in safety measures can lead to irreversible human tragedies.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased miners and prayed for the departed souls to be granted eternal peace, for their families to be blessed with patience, and for the injured to make a full and speedy recovery.
Mir Ali Hassan Zehri urged the Government of Balochistan and the relevant authorities to conduct an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and implement effective measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
He emphasized the need for modern safety systems, gas monitoring, proper ventilation, emergency rescue facilities, and regular safety audits in coal mines.
The PPP leader also called on mine owners to prioritize the safety and well-being of workers by strictly complying with all legal and safety requirements. He said providing protective equipment, proper training, and a safe working environment is not only a legal obligation but also a moral and humanitarian responsibility.
Concluding his statement, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri said the death of a miner is not just the loss of an individual but a tragedy that affects an entire family. He stressed that the government, relevant institutions, and mine owners must work together to ensure that coal miners in Balochistan can earn their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment.
