Maulana Tariq Jamil Reveals Fitness Routine and Healthy Lifestyle at Age 70

Tariq Jamil has shared details of his fitness routine and lifestyle, saying regular exercise, disciplined eating habits, and spiritual well-being have helped him maintain excellent health and flexibility at the age of 70.
LAHORE: Speaking during an interview with Dr. Muhammad Affan Qaiser, Maulana Tariq Jamil demonstrated several stretching and yoga exercises, showcasing remarkable flexibility that drew praise from the host.
According to Dr. Qaiser, even many professional fitness trainers would find it difficult to perform stretches at the same level, particularly without a warm-up.
Maulana Tariq Jamil said he spends around two hours daily on physical activity, including cardio workouts, cycling, strength training, stretching, and yoga. He added that he has avoided eating bread and rice for the past four years.
He said he has consistently focused on maintaining his physical fitness for many years and keeps his weight between 72 and 73 kilograms. If his weight increases during travel, he makes an effort to return it to its normal range.
Discussing his diet, he said he uses desi ghee and olive oil, while avoiding fast food, soft drinks, packaged juices, and other processed foods. He also said he regularly drinks a honey-based beverage.
Maulana Tariq Jamil further stated that he has not used soap or shampoo since 1982, describing it as part of his personal lifestyle.
During the conversation, he also emphasized the connection between physical and spiritual well-being. He said a person should strive to maintain both faith and physical health, explaining that strong faith helps people avoid wrongdoing and follow God’s commands, while a healthy body enables them to fulfill those responsibilities.
He also advised avoiding unhealthy eating habits and said that true relief from stress comes through the remembrance of Allah, adding that genuine peace of mind is found in spiritual devotion.
