Punjab Leads the Nation in Development, No Force Can Halt Its Progress, Says Maryam Nawaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that Punjab has emerged as the leading province of Pakistan in governance, development, and public service, adding that no force in the world can stop the province’s journey of progress.
Addressing the Passing-Out Parade of Lady Police Officers at the Police Training College, Chung, she said it was a matter of immense pride to see Punjab’s talented and courageous daughters wearing the police uniform after successfully completing 40 weeks of rigorous training.
The Chief Minister said the graduating officers are not only a source of pride for their families but for the entire province. She also paid tribute to the parents who encouraged their daughters to join the police force and serve the nation.
Maryam Nawaz stated that women are proving their capabilities in every field, and the Punjab government is taking practical steps to promote their empowerment, independence, and security. She emphasized that wearing the police uniform is not only an honor but also a great responsibility that requires dedication, integrity, and a commitment to public service.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives for women, she said several projects have been launched to facilitate their economic empowerment, including the scooty scheme for female students and measures aimed at creating better employment opportunities. She noted that women are now earning respectable livelihoods as taxi drivers and are contributing alongside men in various professions.
The Chief Minister claimed that the crime rate in Punjab has declined significantly and said the government’s objective is to make every city, town, and neighborhood in the province safer for women and girls.
She requested the Inspector General of Punjab Police to further simplify the recruitment process for women so that more female candidates can join the force. Maryam Nawaz added that she personally oversees policing matters and that substantial investments are being made to introduce modern technologies within the police department, the benefits of which will become increasingly visible in the future.
She said the Punjab Police is being transformed into a stronger and more people-friendly institution through modern systems, effective monitoring mechanisms, and professional training.
Earlier, the Chief Minister reviewed the Passing-Out Parade at the Training College in Chung, where the graduating female officers demonstrated their professional skills and parade drills. Participants at the ceremony applauded their performance, while Maryam Nawaz congratulated the newly inducted officers and expressed her best wishes for their successful careers in public service.
