Rain Expected in Karachi from August 1 Evening, Says Met Department

Karachi:The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rainfall in Karachi from the evening of **August 1**, with intermittent showers expected to continue through **August 2**.

According to the Met Department, the intense low-pressure system that developed over the **Bay of Bengal** remains active and is currently positioned over **Madhya Pradesh, India**, as a deep depression.

The department said the system is expected to begin weakening within the next **12 hours** and is likely to downgrade to a depression before weakening further into a low-pressure area within the following **24 to 36 hours**.

The PMD added that moist winds from the **Arabian Sea** and the **Bay of Bengal** are entering Pakistan’s upper and central regions, while a western weather system is also influencing the country’s northern areas.

Under the influence of the weather system, rainfall is expected in **Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar,** and **Hyderabad**.

The Met Department said intermittent rain is likely from the evening or night of **July 31** through **August 2**, while **Karachi** is expected to receive **light to moderate rainfall** between the evening of **August 1** and **August 2**.

However, the department noted that **heavy rainfall is not expected in Karachi** from this weather system.
