Rana Sanaullah Likens AJK Protesters to Former Armed Groups, Alleges Armed Presence

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has strongly criticized the ongoing protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), comparing the protesters to armed groups that were once supported by the state but later became a challenge to it.

Speaking during a private television program, Rana Sanaullah claimed that individuals participating in the protests are carrying weapons and that their activities are not linked to political demands but rather constitute a challenge to the state’s authority.

He alleged that the protesters intend to use ordinary citizens as human shields, adding that any action taken by law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and order would be unavoidable.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, addressing a press conference in Islamabad, stated that the government would not compromise on the Kashmir cause and would not allow any group to impose its will through violence or coercion.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also criticized the protest movement led by the Action Committee, saying it was not a struggle for rights but an attempt to undermine the state’s institutional framework.

He claimed that there is evidence of both domestic and foreign elements being involved in the protests and said the reported use of weapons indicates that the demonstrations are not ordinary public protests.

Government leaders reiterated that the state will take all necessary measures to maintain law and order and ensure the rule of law.
