West Indies Defeat Pakistan by 90 Runs in First Test as Batting Collapse Hands Hosts Victory

Tarouba:West Indies secured a convincing **90-run victory** over Pakistan in the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy after bowling out the visitors for **120** while defending a target of **211**.

Pakistan’s batting line-up crumbled under pressure during the run chase. Ahsan Awais scored 3, Imam-ul-Haq managed 3, while Salman Agha was dismissed without scoring. Shan Masood also contributed just 3 runs. Ali Usman made 2, Khurram Shehzad added 4, and both Aamir Jamal and Mohammad Ali were dismissed for ducks. Captain **Babar Azam** remained unbeaten on **58**, but received little support as eight Pakistani batters failed to reach double figures.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Babar Azam said Pakistan had played good cricket overall during the Test but admitted the batting line-up failed to deliver on the final day. He added that the team expected the new ball to be challenging, and the regular fall of wickets increased the pressure. Despite the setback, he said the target of 211 was achievable and expressed confidence that Pakistan would bounce back with an improved performance in the next Test.

Earlier, West Indies resumed the fourth day on **126/7** in their second innings and were bowled out for **181**, setting Pakistan a victory target of **211**. Mohammad Abbas claimed **five wickets**, while Khurram Shehzad and Mohammad Ali took **two wickets each**.

In the first innings, West Indies posted **311 runs**, while Pakistan replied with **282**, giving the hosts a crucial first-innings advantage that proved decisive in the match.
