Pakistan Passport Drops to 101st in Global Ranking, Remains Fourth Weakest Worldwide
Islamabad: Pakistan’s passport has slipped one place to 101st in the latest Henley Passport Index, retaining its position as the fourth weakest passport in the world.
According to the July 2026 edition of the index, Pakistani passport holders can now travel to 29 destinations either visa-free or by obtaining a visa on arrival, down from 30 destinations in May.
The Henley Passport Index ranks passports from 199 countries based on the number of destinations their citizens can access without obtaining a visa in advance. The ranking covers 227 travel destinations worldwide.
The report noted that Pakistan was ranked 100th in May 2026 but fell to 101st after losing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to one destination. Since January 2021, the Pakistani passport has consistently remained among the world’s four weakest passports. Only Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria rank below Pakistan, while Yemen is ranked 100th with access to 30 destinations.
According to the index, Pakistani citizens can travel visa-free to several countries and territories, including Barbados, Cook Islands, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, The Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.
They are also eligible for visa-on-arrival in destinations such as Burundi, Cambodia, Comoros, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Nepal, Palau, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste, and Tuvalu. Additionally, travel to Kenya, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka is possible through an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
The report stated that Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Qatar withdrew visa-free or visa-on-arrival access for Pakistani citizens during 2026, contributing to the country’s lower ranking.
Pakistan’s passport ranking has declined steadily throughout the year, moving from 97th in February to 98th in March, 100th in May, and 101st in July.
Meanwhile, Singapore retained the title of the world’s most powerful passport, offering visa-free or simplified access to 192 destinations. Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates shared second place, while Sweden ranked third in the latest global passport index.
