AJK Information Secretary Claims Banned Action Committee Includes Militants, Says Evidence Exists

Islamabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Information Secretary Rashid Hanif has alleged that a significant number of members of the banned Awami Action Committee are militants and individuals linked to “Fitna al-Khawarij.”

Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, Hanif claimed that attempts had been made to influence the Azad Kashmir elections. He said maintaining law and order is the state’s primary responsibility and that the government would continue to ensure peace and security.

He alleged that the banned committee consists of more armed elements and militants than ordinary citizens. According to Hanif, state institutions possess evidence supporting claims that militants are involved in the movement.

The information secretary urged the public to remain connected with the administration and state institutions to avoid being misled by false or misleading information. He also accused the group of using civilian populations as human shields.

Meanwhile, an AJK Police spokesperson said the armed individuals were equipped with modern and automatic weapons. The spokesperson added that five police officers were injured after coming under fire from the group.
