Pakistanis Expected to Enjoy 12 Holidays Next Month, Including a Three-Day Weekend

LAHORE: Pakistanis are expected to enjoy a total of 12 holidays next month, comprising two public holidays and ten weekly off-days, according to the 2026 calendar and the government’s official holiday schedule.
The month of August is also set to offer a three-day holiday weekend. Pakistan’s Independence Day, observed annually on August 14, will fall on a Friday in 2026, followed by the regular weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday, giving citizens three consecutive days off.
In addition to Independence Day, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is scheduled to be observed as a public holiday on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in accordance with the Government of Pakistan’s official notification outlining public, bank, and optional holidays for the year.
With Independence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) accounting for two federal holidays, along with ten weekend holidays during the month, the total number of holidays in August is expected to reach 12.
The official holiday calendar issued by the Government of Pakistan for 2026 provides for public, bank, and optional holidays throughout the year, offering citizens several opportunities for extended breaks and national observances.
