Senior Lawyer Khwaja Shamsul Islam’s Assailant Identified
Karachi:The assailant responsible for the shooting of senior lawyer Khwaja Shamsul Islam has been identified. According to the police, two relatives of the suspect have been detained from Gulshan Sikandarabad for questioning regarding the shooter’s whereabouts.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect, who remains on the run, has been identified as Imran Khan Afridi. He was reportedly a security guard for Khwaja Shamsul Islam. Authorities have launched a manhunt for his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Bar Association has demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of Khwaja Shamsul Islam.
Previously, CCTV footage of the shooting incident had been released to the public, showing a man dressed in a shalwar kameez and wearing a mask, firing at the senior lawyer.
Khwaja Shamsul Islam, accompanied by his son, had arrived in DHA Phase 6 to attend a funeral when the armed assailant opened fire on him and fled the scene on a motorcycle. The senior lawyer was shot in the abdomen, while his son was injured in the back. Both were rushed to a nearby private hospital, but Khwaja Shamsul Islam succumbed to his injuries.
