PPP Rejects Sindh Division, Calls MQM’s Administrative Units Proposal a ‘Political Stunt

Karachi:Sindh government spokesperson **Saadia Javed** has reaffirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) opposes any proposal to divide Sindh into separate administrative units, describing the province as the party’s “red line.”

Speaking to the media, Javed said the PPP has never supported the division of Sindh into administrative units and will not do so in the future.

She argued that Pakistan’s current economic conditions do not support the creation of additional administrative units.

“There is inflation and an economic crisis in the country. Where will the funds come from to run more administrative units?” she said.

Criticizing the **Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P)**, Javed described the party’s proposal as a “political stunt.” She questioned the performance of senior MQM-P leaders, asking what initiatives Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal had undertaken for his voters during the past two and a half years, and whether Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had established any universities or launched significant education projects.

Javed reiterated that **Karachi is the capital of Sindh** and said the PPP would not accept any move to divide the province.

She also claimed that while some people in Punjab favor creating additional administrative units, the people of Sindh do not share that view.

Addressing Karachi’s infrastructure challenges, Javed acknowledged that major projects are underway but admitted that progress has not been as fast as needed. She noted that construction work on University Road has caused inconvenience for residents and added that even her own home in the Defence area has experienced water shortages.

She said Karachi continues to face numerous challenges but maintained that the Sindh government is working to address them and that responsibility for all of the city’s problems cannot be placed solely on the current administration.

“We believe people will see an improvement in Karachi’s overall situation by the end of this year,” she said.

On the **Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)** project, Javed said work is progressing rapidly and that the deadline for completing the mixed-lane track is **July 31**.
