Iraqi Prime Minister Orders Investigation Into Alleged Drone Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has directed security authorities to investigate allegations that drones targeting Saudi Arabia were launched from Iraqi territory.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Prime Minister’s spokesperson Sabah Al-Numan, Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Ali Al-Zaidi ordered the inquiry after receiving information and evidence provided by Saudi Arabia.

The statement reaffirmed Iraq’s constitutional and unwavering commitment to maintaining good relations with its neighbors and ensuring that Iraqi territory is not used to launch attacks against any brotherly or friendly country.

It added that the Iraqi government is reviewing the evidence and information submitted by Saudi Arabia, and anyone found responsible through the investigation will face legal action.

The government also described Iraq’s relationship with Saudi Arabia as strong and brotherly, founded on mutual respect.

The statement concluded by stressing that Baghdad will not allow any attempts to undermine or damage its ties with Saudi Arabia.
