General Syed Amir Raza Assumes Command of National Strategic Command, Congratulated by Field Marshal Asim Munir
Rawalpindi: General Syed Amir Raza has officially assumed command as the Commander of the National Strategic Command, the military’s media wing, ISPR, announced on Monday.
Upon assuming office, General Amir Raza was presented with a Guard of Honour. He also laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers in tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
According to ISPR, General Amir Raza later met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ). During the meeting, the Field Marshal congratulated him on taking over the command and extended his best wishes for his new responsibilities.
The appointment follows the federal government’s decision two days earlier to promote Lieutenant General Amir Raza, who was serving as the Chief of General Staff (CGS), to the rank of four-star general and appoint him as the Commander of the National Strategic Command.
General Amir Raza was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1988. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta and the National Defence University, Islamabad, and also holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham.
He was appointed Chief of General Staff at GHQ in January 2025 and has previously served as Commander of IV Corps and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila, holding several key command and staff positions during his military career.
