Banned BLA Accused of Kidnapping Courier Staff, Demanding Rs25 Million Ransom in Balochistan
**QUETTA:** Militants belonging to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have allegedly abducted two civilians along with a courier company’s cash transport vehicle and demanded a ransom of **Rs25 million**, according to security sources.
Security officials said the incident took place on **July 24**, when armed men allegedly intercepted and kidnapped a courier company’s money truck along with its two occupants in the Khadkocha area.
According to the sources, the kidnappers contacted the courier company on **July 26**, threatening to kill the hostages unless a ransom of **Rs25 million** was paid.
Security sources further alleged that the banned BLA has been involved not only in militant attacks but also in criminal activities such as bank robberies, vehicle hijackings, extortion, and kidnappings for ransom to finance its operations.
Officials said such activities indicate the use of criminal networks to support militant financing and argued that the greatest impact falls on ordinary residents of Balochistan, local businesses, and the province’s security environment.
They added that such incidents are aimed at creating fear and instability in the region.
