Quetta Water Tanker Strike Ends After Successful Talks, Water Supply Restored

QUETTA: The strike by the Quetta Water Tanker and Water Supply Association has been called off following successful negotiations between the provincial government and association representatives, restoring water supply services across the city.

Addressing a joint press conference after the talks, Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai said the government had agreed to form a committee to address the concerns of water tanker owners. He added that all of the association’s demands had been presented to Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti for consideration.

Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai said resolving Quetta’s civic issues is the government’s responsibility, emphasizing that the provincial administration is working under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to address public concerns, with water supply being treated as a priority.

Water Tankers Association President Najeeb Tareen said the decision to end the strike was made after the government’s assurances that the issues would be addressed. He thanked Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai for listening to the association’s concerns and facilitating the negotiations.

Water Supply Association President Jameel Achakzai also expressed appreciation for the government’s cooperation and voiced hope that practical steps would soon be taken to resolve the association’s outstanding demands.
