JUI-F Claims 95% of Balochistan Has Become a ‘No-Go Area,’ Criticizes Government Over Security Crisis

Quetta: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Balochistan has expressed grave concern over the province’s deteriorating security situation, alleging that the government has failed to restore law and order while remaining focused on political privileges instead of public welfare.

In a provincial press release, the party claimed that interprovincial highways have become largely deserted due to security concerns, raising fears of shortages of essential commodities, including flour, sugar, medicines, fuel, and other basic goods in the coming days.

According to the statement, the business community is struggling due to the security situation, while transporters have reportedly stopped operating many of their vehicles after numerous trucks were allegedly set on fire. The party also claimed that ordinary travelers, including women and children, no longer feel safe on the province’s roads.

JUI-F criticized the provincial government’s priorities, alleging that despite the worsening situation, its focus remains on the distribution of funds, ministries, privileges, and authority rather than addressing the public’s concerns. The party further claimed that administrative affairs in the province have effectively become paralyzed.

The statement described the political developments following the February 2024 elections as a failed experiment and alleged that nearly 95 percent of Balochistan has effectively become a “no-go area,” while government officials remain under heavy security and the public is left vulnerable.

JUI-F also alleged that, while other provinces are pursuing development and investment, Balochistan continues to face insecurity, violence, and economic hardship. The party further claimed that individuals who publicly criticize the situation are being subjected to detentions under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO) and notices under cybercrime laws.

The party maintained that dissent should not be treated as a crime and said it would continue raising public concerns about the province’s situation. It warned that unless the government takes immediate and effective measures to restore law and order and secure the highways, the situation could deteriorate further.
