JI Leader Hidayat-ur-Rehman Calls for Urgent Action on Balochistan Security, Criticizes Current Approach

Quetta: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief and Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has urged political parties to set aside partisan interests and work together to address the worsening security situation in Balochistan.

Speaking at a meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami district leaders and provincial office-bearers in Quetta, Hidayat-ur-Rehman said immediate and practical measures were needed to protect the lives and property of the people before the situation deteriorated further.

He said restoring security in the province’s mountains, cities, and highways was the responsibility of the security forces, adding that a significant portion of the national budget is allocated to security institutions. He criticized the current approach, claiming that “the security forces are doing everything except providing security.”

During the meeting, participants discussed a range of issues, including the law and order situation in Balochistan, the Ziarat and Harnai (Hanna Urak) sit-ins, border closures, disruption of trade, attacks on trucks along highways, the recovery of bodies, targeted killings, the use of force, arrests of political workers, concerns over access to justice, and the issue of missing persons.

District leaders and Provincial General Secretary Murtaza Khan Kakar also presented organizational reports, while the meeting reviewed Jamaat-e-Islami’s six-month action plan, Alkhidmat Foundation’s Bano Qabil initiative, the party’s membership campaign, and its organizational budget.

Hidayat-ur-Rehman further said that attempts to control those who deliver justice or inform the public about facts would have damaging consequences. He also stressed the need for a national conference bringing together political leaders to discuss solutions to the province’s challenges.

In their remarks, district leaders said Balochistan was facing a serious crisis marked by insecurity, public hardship, land disputes, attacks on transport, looting of mineral resources, and truck burnings. They expressed concern over what they described as the silence of other political parties and sections of the media, and pledged that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue raising its voice at the national level for peace and the protection of citizens.
