One Killed, Five Injured in IED Blast on National Highway in Mastung

Quetta: One truck driver was killed and five others were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on the N-65 National Highway in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, unidentified attackers detonated a roadside IED near Ziaullah Hotel, close to the Muhammad Hasni Check Post, targeting an LPG gas bowser and passing trailers.

The explosion killed driver Shakeel Ahmed at the scene, while Raja, Paidan Gul, Rehmatullah, Rehman, and Shaista Shah sustained injuries. The wounded were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The blast also triggered a massive fire that completely destroyed an LPG gas bowser and two trailers.

Police have launched an investigation into the attack, while legal proceedings are underway. Authorities are also working to identify those responsible for planting the explosive device.
