‘I Am a Hafiz-e-Quran, Which Is Why My Father Didn’t Want Me to Join Showbiz,’ Says Laiba Khan

Islamabad: Pakistani actress Laiba Khan has revealed that she is a Hafiz-e-Quran and that her father was initially opposed to her joining the entertainment industry because of her religious education and family values.
A clip from one of her earlier interviews has recently resurfaced on social media, in which she spoke candidly about her personal life, educational journey, and entry into showbiz.
Laiba Khan shared that she memorized the Holy Quran in just two years after beginning her Hifz studies at the age of seven. Although she did not fully understand its significance at the time and was not personally eager to pursue it, her parents—particularly her mother—strongly wished for her to become a Hafiz-e-Quran.
“I am a Hafiz-e-Quran, and perhaps that is why my father never wanted me to become part of the showbiz industry,” she said.
The actress explained that her father hoped she would lead a life aligned with her religious education. She also admitted that she herself had no particular passion for acting in the beginning and did not initially take the profession seriously. Over time, however, acting became an important part of her life.
Laiba Khan further revealed that she progressed quickly in her academic studies and was admitted to the eighth grade at the age of ten. She began her acting career even before appearing in her matriculation examinations, making it challenging to balance her education and professional commitments.
According to the actress, she completed her intermediate education but was unable to enroll in university due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized that she has no intention of leaving her education incomplete and hopes to pursue and finish her university studies in the future, even if it is after marriage.
Laiba Khan also shared that she does not have any brothers and that her elder sister, Iman Khan, is also associated with Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
The interview clip has gained renewed attention online, with fans appreciating the actress’s openness about her religious background, educational aspirations, and career journey.
