Father Dies Trying to Save Son After Both Fall into Lai Nullah; Search for Child Continues

Islamabad: A 35-year-old father lost his life while attempting to save his young son after the child fell into Lai Nullah in Rawalpindi’s Gulistan Colony, rescue officials said.
According to Rescue 1122, the child, identified as Muhammad Zahid, accidentally fell into the fast-flowing drain. His father, Meherban, immediately jumped into the water in an effort to rescue him. However, due to the strong current and deep water, both were swept away.
Rescue teams launched a search operation and later recovered Meherban’s body from Lai Nullah. The search for Muhammad Zahid remains ongoing, with water rescue teams continuing operations using all available resources.
Rescue officials said the search will continue until the missing child is located. The incident highlights the dangers posed by swollen drains and fast-moving waterways, particularly during periods of high water flow.
