Balochistan Government, Ziarat Protest Committee Sign Written Agreement Following Successful Talks
QUETTA: The Balochistan government and the Ziarat Protest Committee have reached a written agreement following successful negotiations, with both sides agreeing to implement the demands of the families of the Ziarat martyrs and work jointly to promote peace and stability in the province.
According to the agreement, a judicial commission will be established to investigate the Ziarat incident. The parties also agreed to hold a joint meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, involving opposition parties and the families of the victims to discuss the overall law and order situation in Balochistan.
The agreement provides for strengthening the Balochistan Police by increasing its operational capacity, manpower, and professional capabilities, particularly in urban areas, to improve public security.
Under the agreed terms, those killed in the Ziarat incident will be officially recognized as martyrs in accordance with the government’s existing policy. Their families will receive financial assistance, educational support for their children, and compensation as provided under the relevant policy.
The government also agreed to name various public buildings after the Ziarat martyrs in recognition of their sacrifices.
To address public concerns related to revenue and land matters, a committee headed by the Provincial Revenue Minister will be established. The committee will include government officials as well as respected local representatives to review and resolve public grievances.
Commenting on the agreement, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the martyrs hold a special place in the hearts of the people and that caring for their families is the responsibility of the provincial government.
He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Police, and other law enforcement agencies, stating that the entire nation honors their contributions to maintaining peace and security in the country.
