Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Approves 100% Performance Allowance for Attorney Cadre Officers

PESHAWAR: In a major financial relief for government legal officers, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a 100% performance allowance for officers serving in the Attorney Cadre. The decision was formally endorsed by the provincial cabinet and will be implemented under newly approved rules.
Under the cabinet’s decision, Attorney Cadre officers, who were previously receiving a performance allowance equal to 60% of their basic pay, will now receive an allowance equivalent to 100% of their initial basic salary as of 2022.
According to the government, the allowance will not be counted toward pension or gratuity benefits. However, it will remain subject to applicable income tax, and the required tax deductions will be made.
The official notification also states that officers will not be entitled to the performance allowance during periods of extraordinary leave, long-term leave, or suspension.
The provincial government clarified that the enhanced allowance is exclusively for Attorney Cadre officers. Non-Attorney Cadre officers, employees hired on market-based contracts, and officers serving under special employment packages will not be eligible for the benefit.
The notification further stated that all previous orders and notifications related to the Attorney Cadre performance allowance have been withdrawn, and all future payments will be made in accordance with the newly approved policy.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government said the initiative is aimed at improving the professional performance of Attorney Cadre officers, ensuring more effective representation of government cases, and encouraging legal officers through better financial incentives. Officials expressed confidence that the enhanced benefits would strengthen efficiency and performance in the province’s legal sector.
