Poultry Farm Discovered Inside Punjab University’s Electrical Engineering Department
LAHORE: A poultry setup has reportedly been discovered inside the Electrical Engineering Department of University of the Punjab, prompting the university administration to seek an explanation from the department’s director.
According to a university spokesperson, the Director of the Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Kamran, had been keeping chickens within the department premises. After a video of the alleged poultry setup surfaced, the birds were reportedly removed from the department late at night.
The spokesperson added that Dr. Kamran declined to provide details when questioned by the university’s security management. The administration has since issued him a notice seeking an explanation, stating that no prior permission had been obtained to keep poultry inside the department.
Responding to the controversy, Dr. Kamran told the media that a separate area had been created within the department for female students to sit. He maintained that the animals and birds were kept as part of efforts to enhance the department’s environment and appearance, rather than for commercial poultry farming.
