Severe Cyclone “Shakti” Weakens; Light Rain Likely in Sindh and Balochistan

Karachi: The severe cyclonic storm *“Shakti”* over the west-central and adjoining northwest Arabian Sea has weakened into a regular cyclone after losing intensity over the past six hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

In its **11th cyclone alert**, the PMD reported that the center of Cyclone Shakti is currently located about **910 kilometers southwest of Karachi**. The storm is expected to move east-southeastward and weaken further into a **depression** within the next 24 hours.

Under the influence of the weakening system, **light rainfall is expected along coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan** today.

Strong winds ranging from **70 to 90 kilometers per hour** are likely to continue near the Sindh coast, causing rough sea conditions. Fishermen have been **advised to avoid venturing into deep sea waters until October 7**.

The **Cyclone Warning Centre Karachi** continues to closely monitor the system’s movement and intensity.

Meanwhile, due to the cyclone’s impact, **light to moderate rain** was also recorded in Karachi’s western, central, and northern areas last night.
