Families of Ziarat Victims Vow to Continue Sit-ins Until Justice and Demands Are Met

Quetta/Ziarat: The families of those killed in the recent Ziarat incident and the protest committee have announced that sit-ins in Ziarat and Quetta will continue until justice is delivered to the victims and their demands are accepted.

In a joint statement, the committee said one protest is being held outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Ziarat, while the second sit-in is continuing in Quetta alongside the bodies of the victims.

The protesters stated that neither demonstration will end until all their legitimate demands are met and those responsible are brought to justice.

The statement recalled that in 2021, residents of Ziarat staged an 11-day sit-in with the bodies of victims, describing it as a historic protest. It added that the bodies of the current victims are being regarded as a trust of the wider Pashtun community.

According to the families, they have maintained from the outset that they will abide by whatever collective decision is made by the Pashtun community regarding the victims.

The protest committee said it hopes these will be the last victims of violence and that no Pashtun should have to suffer terrorism, bloodshed, or violence in the future. It reiterated that the sit-ins in Ziarat and Quetta will continue until justice is served, adequate security is ensured, and their demands are fulfilled.
