Joint Security Forces’ ‘Operation Shaban’ Continues in Balochistan; Total of 75 Militants Reportedly Killed
QUETTA: A joint security operation, codenamed “Operation Shaban,” is continuing in Balochistan following the terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam Police Station, with the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police intensifying operations against militants.
According to security sources, security forces have tightened the cordon around militant hideouts in remote mountainous areas, while ground and aerial operations remain ongoing.
The sources said that 26 militants were killed during operations conducted on July 6 and 7, while 13 more were reportedly killed over the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of militants killed during Operation Shaban to 39, according to the security sources.
They further stated that militants attempted to attack a police station in the Zaidi area of Khuzdar on Tuesday morning. However, Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps personnel responded swiftly and successfully repelled the attack.
Security sources claimed that eight militants were killed during the operation, while an additional five to six militants were reportedly killed in follow-up helicopter operations.
According to the security sources, a total of 75 militants have been killed since July 5 during Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations (IBOs). They added that security forces continue to conduct operations in the area with the objective of eliminating the remaining militant presence.
