Tokyo:A 15-year-old high school student in Japan has been arrested for allegedly using **ChatGPT** to help develop software used in a cyberattack that disrupted the **Bandai Namco Filmworks** streaming service, **Bandai Channel**.

According to foreign media reports, the attack targeted the streaming platform and resulted in the deletion of more than **46,000 user accounts**, causing significant service disruptions.

Police said the incident occurred in **November 2025**, and the teenager is suspected of interfering with business operations through fraudulent access to the streaming service.

Investigators believe the student exploited weaknesses in the platform’s security system, forcing the company to temporarily suspend parts of its service while addressing the breach.

During questioning, the student reportedly said he began using computers in the fourth grade and wrote the source code himself. He added that because the processing required considerable time, he used ChatGPT to help complete the program in different programming languages.

Police said the suspect admitted he held no personal grudge against Bandai Namco Filmworks, claiming he targeted the platform simply because it contained a large number of user accounts that he believed he could access.
